Professional Journey
In January 1993, I formed CompuSource Computers, which provided accounting and operations solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. In addition, we engineered solutions for the telecommunications industry, which led to our acquisition by LDMI Long Distance in 1996. I was appointed Director of IT and led all systems operations.
After moving my career from technical development and IT leadership, I was offered an opportunity to lead the Project Management Office at QQuest Corporation, a consulting firm serving the automotive industry. In this role, I expanded PM methodologies while delivering multimillion-dollar technology projects.
At this point, my entire professional life had been with smaller organizations that offered flexible solution development, entrepreneurial approaches, and the ability to take extended risks. Moving to a $15B organization brought many learning experiences. Leveraging my expanding program management role, I was able to lead PMO activities that included building the first data warehouse at DTE, among other key projects. One project to mention was the Energy Bridge which revolutionized the ability for residential customers to see real-time energy usage. During this project, I was sent to NYC for investor conversations, including a meeting on the trading floor on Wall Street, and to Washington D.C. to present to the energy committee.
